Blue Light Mobile: voice too, plus a higher priority

During the recent ASTRID User Days, deputy prime minister and minister of Security and the Interior Jan Jambon announced Blue Light Mobile 2: a new version of ASTRID’s mobile broadband offering.

Users from the police and emergency services with a BLM SIM card currently have access to all Belgian commercial 3G and 4G networks in a secure priority environment for their data applications. The second generation BLM will extend this secure data connection with a secure, high quality telephone connection for voice communications. Moreover, the priority access will be extended even more: at any given time, BLM users will have priority over all other users for both voice and data communication. The aim is to make Blue Light Mobile 2 gradually available for police and emergency services in the first semester of 2017.
